the drugs don't work

Gah. There's been another attack of blog spam, with a script adding a long advert for drug sites to every damn node (around 800 comments). As I don't have time to remove them by hand, it will have to wait until I've upgraded the website engine to work with version 4.5 of Drupal (which has better tools for dealing with site spam). And I don't have time to do that right now either. :(
In the meantime, I've made the comment system inaccessible to everyone but me. Comments aren't being used much at present anyways, and the Nutshell Directory entries can still be edited by anonymous users. The scripted attack appears to be written to use the standard Drupal commenting system, as a large number of Drupal sites have suffered similar attacks. It's therefore unlikely that whoever is doing this would modify the script to take advantage of the way this one site happens to work.
I'm really sorry about this. Like usenet and email before them, sites like this one are now falling victim to a very very small minority of people who think it's okay to make everybody else's lives worse just to meet their own short-term needs. Boosting the Google rank of some short-lived site by these means is just so amazingly selfish. Whoever you are, I hate you. Seriously. I mean it.
